The interest in our One Last Round event has been overwhelming and we haven't even sent out the official inviation! Look for the official invitation to arrive in the mail in early February. It will have all the details including times, agenda, and costs.
Meanwhile, since many of our alums are not on Facebook, please help spread the word by emailing the link to this blog (if your DDD contacts have email) or giving your best DDD buds a call.
Here is the basic agenda. Please note that at this time it is subject to change:
Saturday, March 2, 2013:
11 a.m. - 3 p.m.: Tours of the new house will be available provided we have our Certificate of Occupancy by this time. There will be no furniture or window treatments in the new house. That will arrive later in March. However, the house will be open and we plan on having members stationed at it to serve as guides. (An official house dedication ... with furniture ... will be held next fall around a home football game weekend).
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.: A box lunch will be served at the Round House. This will help facilitate the flow of traffic. This will be the last chance for many to roam the halls and record your memories. UA is planning on the demolition of the house to begin the week of April 8th. For those of you not aware, the University purchased the equity of the building from us and that money will go towards the construction loan for the new house. Alpha Chi Omega then purchased the equity back from the University but plans on demolishing the round house and their house and building a new house on both lots.
The afternoon and evening can be spent with classmates and friends catching up or touring the campus. We may have some official campus tours available but those details have yet to be finalized.
8 p.m. - midnight: Band party with a cash bar at Smith Hall on the campus of the University. The band will feature hits from the Motown and later eras. Smith Hall is located east of the main library. It is also the University's Museum of Natural History and is a great venue for events of this nature.
We plan on having late night snacks available at the end of the party.
Some helpful information:
1. We hope to have a website available where people can sign up and pay online in addition to the registration form and envelope that will be included in the forthcoming invitation.
2. If you are looking to book a room at a hotel or find a location for a large dinner party, we suggest you visit the Tuscaloosa http://visittuscaloosa.com/ where there are links to dining and accommodations. Others have also rented houses/game day condos by going through Vacation Rental by Owner http://www.vrbo.com/.
3. Husbands and dates are welcome, but optional (we know many are making this a girls weekend).
4. If you have any questions or concerns, please email uatridelta@gmail.com or check out our Facebook page Delta Delta Delta - The University of Alabama
